13b Rew

hey guys, i wanna put a 13B REW into my series 4 FC Turbo, im going to put a single turbo on either of the engines, I want to put the 13B REW gearbox in. Is this really worth it, are the gearboxes any better? I know the engine mounts will not fit up, but what about the gearbox? What is better about the 13b rew than the 13bt besdies the twin turbo set up standard

thanks guys, sorry to be a pain

There really isn't a big difference between the T2 tranny and the FD tranny. The FD tranny is not a direct fit to the FC frame, but I have heard of people doing this.

I think it's worthless considering that people on this board have 400+HP running on the T2 tranny.

A word of posting advise: REW swaps are discussed and brought up and lot on this board and is generally thought to be a bad/stupid idea. It's going to cost you MUCH more then it's worth. Too keep from getting flamed/banned/thread locked you should have only asked if the FD gearbox will work/fit in an FC.

dont take offense or anything..but if ur asking these questions..then ur not ready for the job the rew internals are upgraded....hardened stat gears, forged rotors not cast, bigger ports, high compression...then the tranny is the same as the 13bt unless of course u get a 6 speed version

The only difference between the REW and the 13Bt is the size of the ports. The compression is the same, the gears are not hardened unless you rebuild it that way. I'm not sure about the rotors though.

Correction (for the people who don't know): The S4 T2 compression is lower then S5 T2. The FD rotors have the same compression as the S5 T2 not the S4.

Just go with a 13B-RE out of the cosmo.... Better block overall. From what I understand, there's no need for dowel pinning after 400 HP. Switch it over to single turbo, run a stand-alone and you're good to go!

Any reason it doesnt req dowel pinning? I thought they were the same black as REW but with smaller exhaust ports for a little more lowend?

(i think) the re has stronger dowels then the fd's rew and i do know for a fact that the intake ports on the re are larger then both the rew and the 13b-t

The CR of the FD rotors is the same as S5 TII rotors.

S5+ Stationary gears are hardened yes.

6spd FD? wtf in the US? I haven't even heard of it in The S7/8's in Japan.

The RE is the best engine swap for our cars, fc3spro.com confirms this. Its the easiest swap overall. If you can get the long-block, wiring harness, and stock ECU, then thats all you need for a direct swap really.

For 13BT vs 13BEw comparisons

And http://fc3spro.com/TECH/SWAP/FD3S/rew.html for swap info.
