Puzzling Problems

I am New to the rx7 world and absolutely love the car but lately I have had some trouble keeping it running. Lately it has been completely loosing power at random times for no aparrant reason. It feels like you are not giving it any gas even though your foot is to the floor. Their is no pattern to when it does it but generally if you play around with the cluch and the gas for a little while you can get it to stop and keep going. I have no idea what it is and would appriciate any help I can get.
Thanks
Dan

Is there any studering, shuddering, power going flat, car jerking, sputtering?

Hmm... We need more details on the car in question.

What *kind* and year Rx7 is it? Also, how many miles, what mods etc. Does it do it ONLY at WOT? (wide-open-throttle) What RPM's? How does the car idle/drive aside from the "random" lack of power? How long have you had the Rx7/how long have you had this problem?

There HAS to be some pattern. When you say, "... if you play around with the clutch and the gas for a little while you can get it to stop and keep going. Do you mean you can 'cause' the problem to happen and if you play around more you can get the problem to disappear? Or, the problem is that the car "stops and goes"...?

Just a wee-bit confused.

The car in question is a 88 GXL N/A with 110,000 miles on it. The problem accurs at WOT Partial Throtle and while crusing down the road.
Sometimes there is shudering and hesitation and all that good stuff and sometimes it just feels like I let completely off the gas.
Generally if it doesn't go away by its self in a few seconds I put the clutch in rev it a little bit and down shift. This does not always help but most the time it at least keeps me going.
The car is not overheating and the amps gauge does not drop while it is doing it.
Thanks, Dan

So... Let's say you're cruising at 3k RPM's in 3rd gear... You give the car partial throttle and HOLD it at partial throttle... Just cruising. Is THIS when the problem occurs? Like, the car will 'surge' in a sense? Like, fluctuate from normal to 'flat' over and over?

What specific RPM's does the car experience the issue?

Does the car 'stutter' at all when you're doing a full throttle, 'all the way to redline' run? Or is it JUST when you're cruising...

Do you have a ported TB what mods?

Sounds like a grounding issue but more NFO is needed.

clutch slipping? 3800RPM hesitation? just 2 of the possibilities... maybe... not an expert but that's my opinion...

The problem has accured right as I was taking off and I couldn't even excelerate in 1st, It has happened when I was cruising at 35, It has happened while I was acselerating in third and it has happened when i was crusing in 5th. thats why it has me so confused, I honestly cant find any sort of pattern. Sometimes it kind of just shudders and jerks, and sometimes it just slows down but the engine has never completely died.
To my knowledge the car is conpletely stock.
Thanks, Dan
