Unhappy put new engine in......

I finally got an engine in my car!!!!
its not new,(80,000), but I know it runs because I took it out of my other car when it wrecked. this is just untill i finish my rebuild and port!!!

anyway, I finally got it all hooked up, and tried to start the car. it just made the wooshing sound of turning over.
at first I thought there was just no fuel, so I cranked a little more, but it never even started to catch.
I think I have no spark, but how do I check?
any other ideas? should I try the ATF trick?

Search, my son. A lot of people have already asked these questions long b4 you did.

Search, try out others' suggestions, then come back.

check for spark, fuel, compression (sounds like your pretty sure you have comp.) Atf or oil in the spark plugs can ease starting. How long has it been since the engine was ran?

i would defenitly try putting ATF in before starting...tow starting the car seems to work pretty well too. Make sure your CAS is aligned. I bought a j-yard motor that supposedly ran fine, it sat for 1 month..I finally got it started and ran it for a total of about 2 hours. Comp on rear rotor was 30-30-60...I dont think they like to sit!

alright. tomorrow I'm trying ATF trick + new plugs (because I have some lying around). if that doesn't work, I'll test the coils(thanks for the search terms), and I don't even want to think past that right now.

thanks for the help.

Looking for spark (searched for NO SPARK in titles only in the 2nd gen section - next time DIY.)

Read through both threads. HAILERS is arguably the #1 guy for electrical/wiring questions on this Forum. Do the tests that these guys did and follow the threads. If you don't find and fix it this way come back and post again about it.
