Put in my Redline tranny fluid today
Finally changed my tranny fluid today. For the past couple of months or so its been scraping whenever i put it hard into 3rd or just into reverse.
I had heard that Redline tranny fluid was the best so I got it.
After I put it in, no more scraping into 3rd at all, (even downshifting and a hiph rpm) and reverse is much better also.

Yep. One thing for reverse: push down the clutch, put the shifter into 2nd or 3rd, then move it into reverse and let out the clutch. Usually stops it from grinding.

hmm..I think i will try that stuff then. Do you just put in the MT-90 stuff or another kind of the Redline trans fluids. I think it will help me alot..my scraping in 2nd and 3rd is pretty intermitent...so I think the Redline synthetic would help! How much was it?

Ahh... it usually takes about 50-100 miles for the new oil to get to all the surfaces of the gears, so I doubt there was any instant change.
Unless perhaps your tranny was very low on gear oil before the change.

Im using Redline MT 90 in the transmission and 75w-90 diff specific Redline in the, you guessed it, differential.
it definetly made a huge change in my transmission so ive stuck with it since then.

I think the fluid would go eveywhere instantly, it wouldn't take 100 miles.

Yea the transmission was in really bad shape. It started when it was very very touchy when cold. Then I would get the occasional grind. Well, on the way to the shop to get it changed I remember grinding 3rd, 5th, etc I didnt think id make it. And the mechanic was telling me that changing the fluid wouldnt make a big difference in my case, that the transmission would need to be replaced within a matter of weeks.
Well after putting it in, the gears stopped grinding pretty much all together. I was really very surprised. its been about 7-8 months since then and ive had absolutely no problems with grinding and the transmissions holding up great.

hah. synchronizer. My transmission recently developed a third gear grind (tried to go from fifth to third at ~80mph, didn't like it too much), and reverse has always been a little shitty. Haven't put the redline stuff in yet, but I certainly will now.
After I get a new engine.

so if i wanted to buy REDLINE oil for my tranny and my differential, i have to buy about 6 2qts of MT-90 (75w-90)
2.5 differential and 2.5 for tranny
.5 for shifter area
is that right? because ever since i bought the car i havn't change the tranny fluid and first gear is hard to get in when cold, and second and third grinds,
it doesn't grind when i shift to second really fast prolly because there is less fluids

hmmm....30 bucks...spendy...but i've heard half the people I've talked to say it didnt do ****..the other half say it made a big difference. I look at it as its going to give you different results depending on whats really wrong with your trans. If your synhros are shot to hell...fluid isnt going to replace that worn gear...if you just have old nasty fluid...it could work wonders......or you just needed new fluid.
