Purchasing a 87 RX-7,need help

hi,im new to the forums, and im really pumped about this RX-7 club..

iam a current owner of a 89 pontiac Bonneville SSE (www.bonnevilleclub.com)
my friend is selling me a 87 RX-7 5 speed,baby blue,no rust,runs good...121,000miles,seems to run good..alot of power..lol

are there features that i should look at ?..maybe some common things that are important in a RX-7?...he's asking a 1000$ and priced it on www.kbb.com
kelly blue book, and it prices 700 in good condition..?

is this somthing to think about?

are there any common problems found on the RX-7s?
i really dont wanna get shafted, but i love the shape and design of that car!

...ha, kbb...right....this is what I got posted in the for sale section on my forum...

3 years ago I bought a 1989 Toyota Supra (N/A, targa, 5spd) for $2500. I then went to the DMV and told them I only paid $500 for the car. That expense then went on public record. NADA and Kelly Blue Book looked up the public record, saw that I only spent $500 for my car, and added that to the total number of 1989 Supras bought that year and calculated an average. My having bought that car for $500 (proved by public record, right?) brought that national average down a certain percentage. Then when people ask NADA or KBB what their car is worth, they look at how much myself, and the rest of the nation, spent on their cars, and they give you an answer based on the information they pulled from public record.

The point?

People are liars and theives and the public record is generally wrong. We do not wish to see ANY posts or comments about any vehicle for sale in this section being priced wrong because NADA or KBB says so...and, because I get very uptight about the rules, you really don't want to be the first one to break it.

Thank you
Happy Posting
KBB is ****.

forgot to add the "on topic" part.

What model is it? How many lugs does it have per wheel? Hood scoop? What kind of interior? Does it say GXL or GTU on it anywhere? What do the wheels look like? Sawblades or phone dials?

I think you may not have entered the information in the KBB website properly. You need to look at Private Party Value, and it sounds like the condition is somewhere close to Good if it runs and has a new paint job (baby blue was not a factory color).

Garbage in = garbage out. KBB is good if you know how to use it. I have found it to be pretty accurate except for the 3Gen RX-7's.
