pulsation dampener installation

I removed the oem pulsation dampener from my 88 NA. I plan to install a mareen in the following way. I have removed the banjo bolt from the top fuel rail that connects it to the primary by the fire wall. I drilled and tapped a 1/8" pipe thread in it and then put a brass street el into this threaded hole. this allows the pulsation dampener to miss the heater hose . A 3/8 to 1/8 bushing is used to neck down the dampener to this pipe size. I know that this is quite a reduction but fuel is not flowing thru the dampener and I think it will work just fine. this seems like a simpler system than the thread suggesting using a T with adapters from 3/8 to 6an etc. I had a spare banjo bolt that I drilled and tapped but before I go any further I would appreciate some feed back, thanks
