Pulling engine...Do I need to drain tranz fluid and oil fluid?

Pulling engine...Do I need to drain tranz fluid and oil fluid?

Its an 89 engine with 87 tranz im pulling out...

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have no clue what im doing right now. Im going to start by taking off the turbo and manifold.

Yes. You should also remove the radiator so you will have to drain it too.

Oh , Im not pullling the tranz out. Im just pulling the block...So the radiator fluid and what else? Oil right? but not the tranz fluid right?

If you are not pulling the tranny, then do NOT drain the transmision fluid.

DO drain the oil and coolant, because you will be unhooking the oil cooler lines and removing the radiator.

Save yourself the backache and wait until you get the engine out to remove the turbo and manifold. It is much easier to remove it once the engine is out.

If you have not done this before, i suggest you find a manual. Better still Atkins has a 13B remove and replace video.

Both the Haynes and FSM have good engine R&R write-ups. It’s highly recommended with any big job that you thoroughly read and understand the complete procedure before you start. That way you don’t get half way through and realise you don’t have the right tools or something.
