What connector do you ground to to pull codes on the 87s?

none. you need a special tool. but it's not really worth it, the 87-88 ecus' are too dumb. if they managed to even store a code chances are it's for the wrong thing.

I read a few posts that say you can pull codes, but no method as to how. Are you telling me that the ECU wont tell me anything?

you can pull codes easy on a 89-91. and you need a special tool for the 86-88 ones. buy as I said the 86-88 ones are pretty dumb. they rarly give codes and sometimes they are for the wrong thing, not what's causing your problem.

Hey there J-Rat, the "Special Tool" that you need are a couple of LED's from Radio Shack and a coupla' female spade connectors. This will give you a running real time readout on your ECU. Mine are wired to a panel below the Head Unit in my 87 TII. I must warn you, though, that Scott is right - this is One Dumb ECU!! However, it does display error codes. Not many of them, and it doesn't store an error code either. It will only display the error code as it is happening. For example, if I leave my car sit for a half hour all warmed up, it gives me an Oxygen Sensor failure code until the Sensor warms up again - about 2 minutes. After that, it is happy again. Get the idea? Here is where to get the instructions/codes to get at this info. After all, even a little more info (possibly) is better than none!

Kool

Thanks guys...I am hoping that I can get an idea as to why its running rich. I already checked fuel pressure, and I am running around 35 PSI. The exhaust makes your eyes water and the thing wont pass emissions..And its a brand new motor....
