Pulleys?

I found these pulleys:
http://www.mazdaracing.com/pulley.htm
Street series pulleys. It says they add some power, but is it a good idea to run them? I see it underdrives the water pump and alternator, that can't be good. Anyone use these?

Sorry if it's a repost.

They're for racecars. You don't need them.

Race cars spend all their time at high rpm's and the reduction pulleys are required to run the drive components at the correct speed. Race cars never idle while sitting at a stop light or experience slow traffic. If you install these pulleys on a street car, your alternator will cut out at idle, and your engine coolant will not circulate at the proper rate, possibly causing an overheating condition.

If you want a nice dress-up kit for your engine that saves a little bit of rotating weight, just get some stock-sized anodized pulleys. Example:

If you want more horsepower, get a high-flow intake and exhaust.

Would you completely trust the seller's answers to those questions? He just wants your money remember...

Not to be completly against you because I trust your knowledge but even though he wants the money the threat of a bad image from a blown coolant seal issue would make it a bit tougher for them to blatantly lie about their product. I beleive it would also be false advertising.

I actually want to get a set of their "eliminator" pullies that are just the last two belts left after you take all the acc.'s off but I don't know what they are doing to re-design them. : .

That's a rather simplistic view of the performance aftermarket. Anybody selling anything is going to emphasise the product's good points and downplay or ignore the negatives. It's called marketing.

I tend to believe physics before marketing.

Looks like the main pulley requires the removal of the eccentric shaft nut...correct? Sort of like the Unorthodox racing's FD version. Not a good idea to removel that nut ....check out a similar thread in the FD section and a link Rynberg posted to a Mazdatrix page dealing with the nut removal.

Yeah I know about marketing. But I guess I just like to be honest about things a little more than the comanies that are out there already. Ah well.

PS- I am a Business major at my university and I took marketing clasess during high school it was easy to see that desception is the point of marketing. Ah well.
