proper break in procedure

What is the proper break in procedure for a 13b n/a that is street ported? I've heard that i shouldn't go over 4000rpm for about 1000 km. Is this right? And will anything go wrong with it later on when i drive it to it's full potential after babying it for a long peroid of time. Get what i mean?

No WOT, any boost, or revs over 4000 rpm.
Vary the revs. This means stop and go city driving, not just cruising on the highway for 1000 kms.
NO synthetic oil until after the break-in, if you choose to go synthetic.
Change the oil at very early intervals. I do it at 100 kms, 500 kms, 1000 kms, 2000 kms, and every 3000 kms after that.
After 1500, I consider it broken in.
Maintain all fluid levels. Get a new fuel filter, and an oxygen sensor as well. Cheap insurance.

After the break-in, feel free to drive as normal.

Many people feel a properly built motor doesnt need a break in. Such as the subaru rally team gives a quick 250km, and some drag teams do rebuilds at the track. Their first break in is a run down the track. Of course, they have the money to replace a brand new motor that just got blown. In my opinion, an oil change @ 250km, 500km, and 1000km, then every 2500-3000 after that. At 1000 I consider it broken in...
