Proof i need rebuild

Ok, im goign to start off by giving youa little background information

I got an 87 N/a, runs fine till it warms up, pushes all coolent out of system, and over heats, on a cold start i do see bubbles come up though the filler cap on ther thermostat, not alot, but some

so, 1, is this a Very good sign that my engine needs a rebuild

If yes, please give a nice little answer so i can print it out to the parents, because about every 2 days, they forget what i explained and say "no no no, your just fixated on wanting a new engine, all you boys want to say i just got a new engine, we will just replace that seal, you dont need to rebuid it"

And every time, i explain and remind, that to get that seal out,

you have to pull engine
Take apart engine and replace ALL seals you take off, and while your there, might as well replace the rest of them
Then put engine back in

They dont understand that all that costs more than 100 dollors and half day at mechanics, and on top of that, they keep going, "Your over heating because your headgasket is gone, you should just replace that"

argh, im in a pretty annoyed mood

oh, and ontop of that, i got into a lil fight with a pretty good mechanic i know, about rotarys, he dont think they exisist, hes like "how many sparkplugs it got, oh, 4, its a four banger"

well, i should of posted this in loung, but i guess i had a ligidment question, so if you wouldnt mind replying with some sort of answer i can print out and staple there the parents head, please do so =]

its 11, im tired, im not spell checking this, good night

Don't scare me like that man! I am going to buy an 87 NA!

Other than that, do you have any other problems? Do you have problems with your brake and clutch master/slave cylinder?

Nice to hear!

Thanks for responding to my post!

Oh, if you go back to Mazda dealer, I don't think they will charge you a penny for checking your problems. They will only charge you if you want to fix it.

I live in Canada, so this is my case.

Please tell me so that I know what not to do when I get my 7. Thanks!

Not necessarily! You need to replace your thermostat with a new OEM one and also the radiator water cap. If these are bad you can get those symptoms.

You may have hurt the engine by overheating it though. You need to have the compression checked as well, but preferably with a Mazda Rotary engine Compression tester. If not available then there are a few sites you can go to and see how to check it with a regular compression checker.

Do they know you have a "Rotary" engine? You cannot replace any seals without a full rebuild.......and there is NO headgasget on a Wankle motor.

OBVIOUSLY you won't want this "not so good" mechanic to EVER touch you car!!! He obviously does not know what he is talking about! Have the cooling system checked first. Sounds like a stuck thermostat and a leaky radiator cap. This will cause the water to overheat and be pushed out of the system.

Good Luck.

Someone mentioned master cylinders, and just about every N/A FC i have checked out in person has or had a pretty bad leak on the master cylinder. U can buy em for little over a hundred bucks from mazdaformance.com, not too hard to install, theyre extremely easy to get at
