Don't listen to these haters dustin. They're just jealous.
Oh, and all the people I know that have left primer on their cars for any length of time never had any trouble...
umm... You are SUPPOSED to adjust the idle screw way up when you rebuild so it idles good... and even a little bit high wont hurt.

I dont know why you'd be buying performance parts for a car that's all in primer...I just can't roll like that, and even a maaco job would be better than that. The first dollars I had in hand would go toward paint...then, and only then, would i start dicking around with the rest of the car.

I'd drive an rx-7 with a clean interior/exterior and decent paint that's bone stock and arguably slow all day before I'd drive a modded rx-7 that's much quicker but looks ratty inside and out.

And to the primer guys only some sealer primers are fine to drive around in. They have a satin or semi gloss look to them (hence the wording Sealer Primer).
Dull surface primers (which that car appears to have) attract moisture, have a lot of talc as a filling agent and will lead to blistered final paint down the road and adhesion problems (might take a couple of years- but it will happen) if you drive around with them. Go ask any body shop if you area non believer.
LoL! paint over mods. What a bunch of ricers, hahaha.
Paint is..... 'nice'.
Mods are essential!
A clean car is key, done one colour and put together.
I love seeing the primer car with a bunch of 13.xx timeslips in his glovebox at the track. thats how it should be for those of us still in highschool modding on a budget, anyway....
I just rebuilt my S5 tii, i'm 18 and the last thing i care about is gloss or primer.
good work dustin, was any porting done, or is it just a stock rebuild for now?

Edit: good work Dustin.. maybe a macco job for a few hundred is just what the car needs... and a street port

why did you have to rebuild it twice? wasn't it something like the water seals didn't properly seat or some **** like that? i've never really read a step-by-step walk through of a rebuild other than the haynes manual, anyone have a link? (rather than searching for 2 hours i don't have). what are the basic do's and don'ts of a rotary rebuild. i'm in the process of rebuilding my T2. good job though, i'd be proud of that.
you have already done body work I assume? Macco, best $230 I ever spent on my isuzu pickup. Made it look 1000x better than what it did (faded white). I drove the truck for 2 years, left it in the rain, waxed it once a month and shined till I sold it. Never faded in any spots or have a single chip, no runs etc. Macco is cheap but the paint will last if you keep up with waxing regularly.
The difference in whether a person feels like he needs a nice looking car or a fast beater is directly related to their age. When you're young, who cares what your car looks like, your invincible, "They're only going to see my tail lights anyway". But with age comes responsibility, Try driving your beat up " Fast Car" to your next big corporate meeting. As an adult, you'll find that your decisions are predicated towards more esthetic endeavors.
