I wouldn't trust their word on a LS1 swap. If you talk to AutoRND more, then you know they suggested the LS1 for drag racing, not drifting. They wanted to use the LS1 on their widebodu Tripoint FC3S. But that damn thing has been sitting around for 3-4 years without any progress. Same with all their other FCs.
How do I know? Because I use to work for them thats how. And never was there anyone else who worked on rotaries. And never was there any funding for the RX7 project cars.

Just thought you might want to know. Oh yeah, and there is a 20B powered 10th AE on the east coast who is getting into drifting as well.

Let me start off by saying that while I don't like the thought of a piston engine in a '7, I'm not opposed to other people doing it. Your car, your money, your decision.
If you want to make it a boinger, I'd definately keep it at least a japanese motor. SR20 if you want, wouldn't do it myself because it is just too common for my tastes. EVERY 240 owner wants one, and many people are throwing them into other cars as well.
I've only seen it once before, but perhaps the S2000 motor would work better for you? Still has those high revs, but has the pistons you're looking for.
Just a suggestion, good luck with the project and keep us updated.

Im personally for the SR. Stout motor capable of handling 500+ on a stock bottom end. Revs higher than a V8, and sounds way better than a V8. Its all pretty much up to the boss man. So i will continue to post pics along the way.
And to the guys that commented about the stich welds. The welds were done while the car was sitting on the ground with the suspension loaded. Anything under the car will be done up in the air. Shouldnt be a problem since there will be no load hanging now.

While we're on the subject, how much do you think an LS1 conversion is going to cost you in total? my LS1FC widebody weighs in at 2720, with full interior and 3/4 tank of gas.
LS1T56 - $2500 - $4500 depending on year, mileage, etc.
Driveshaft - $100, turns out a C4 vette shaft is the right length and you only need a $20 flange put on the end mating to the T2 diff.
Mounts - LS1FC mounts are $359 from www.hinsonsupercars.com
Intake and Exhaust - $250 if you can weld your own exhaust
Fuel and cooling setup - $450 or less, see www.torquecentral.com for info
and youre done!
but dont forget you should upgrade the fuel and cooling systems no matter what motor you went with, whether it was a modded 13B, SR20, F20C or LS1!

Go w/ the LS1. It'll be a hellova lot cheaper.
Hell w/ heads cam only you can make 400+hp easy. Makeing power w/ the LS1 is simple compaired to a rotary.
Whoever said the crowd will hate it is ******* retarded, I doubt 15% of the crowd will be such Rotary purists.
Besides If/When they win it wont matter what the crowd "thought" about how it sounded.

Just like doing your own work for the LS1 stuff, you can do your own work for a bport, pport, etc if you have the knowledge and resources and it wont be that expensive.
A lot of you guys aren't grasping the fact that a bridgeported or peri ported motor would be terrible for drifting. Look through every last rotary in Formula D and D1 and tell me how many of them are running ports bigger than a mild to medium streetport. And the answer is....... NONE OF THEM. You will either see stock ports or a mild to medium streetport. Anything bigger than that and you lose the type of powerband that you want to have for drifting.
Bleach, an SR motor is really tough but I think that you'll be hard pressed to get the performance out of anything for the price of an LS1 swap.

theres a large community of turbocharged ka's.
theres quite a few 240 with rb series engines in them.
finally theres also many sr20 240 owners, with different generations of sr20. yes, the sr20 does not come in just one flavor.
why does everyone hate sr20dets? its a common swap because its a good engine.
sr 20 det swap in fc3s kick *** and the wheight is almost the same i know i do it.and its WAY EASIER TO DRIFT, NO LACK OF TORQUE and hard to broke.i didnt regret it and mazda should have done this a long time ago,sorry for the purrist but 5000$ engines a year is too much for my little pocket

People will tell you what to do all day long because we are in America. Bottom line do what you want. I understand you want opinion or experience form otheres. Well just like any other thread people will offer you opinion out of their imagination. I say you do it! my car turned out better then what I expected. The weight gain is about 100-150lb, the torque out put is uncomparable to 13B and just like I thought it would do it is acting like a S13 because more weigh is put on the front. I did some minor suspension adjustment to compensate for the weight but I went back to old setting because the car did not need it. With out me in it my car's coner weight is

I had the worries that you may be having before I did my swap, but like many will tell you it will turn out better then you think. You should ask those who offer you opinions if they do indeed drift or even have an idea of what drifting a FC is like. However Formula D is writing their new rules and cars may be required to have motors from same manufacture so companies like GM, Ford , and Chrysler can keep smiling because they have political influence on bitch *** SCCA.
