in short yes it will work just as well on a stock fc as it would on a modded fc, but do you really need it, I mean do you have supporting mods to raise your boost? about the only real benefit to a stock fc would be that the boost would come on a little quicker.

Ever heard of buying parts for the future? Maybe that is what he is doing and doesn't need a lecture.

I run the Spec II, and well as my friend. We both like the unit. It has a built in boost gauge, 2 boost settings, a boost limiter, and is very small and easy to mount. Ours are mounted right underneath the turn signal lever.

The only issue it seems to have is when the BC is first turned on (ie whenever you start the car), some kind of hardware glitch resets the boost limit to really low. This makes the limiter come on way before the set value.

From what we have found out, pressing the 'low' then 'high' then 'low' buttons puts it back to whatever limit you set it too. That is kind of annoying.

Aside from that, its fairly easy to tune if you follow the instructions. Just make sure not to turn the SET GAIN up too high early on, because you can overboost easily, especially if you are going to use it with the stock WG

yes I do hear of buying parts for the futur that is what i did.
But he was asking to use it on a stock turbo FC meaning using it on the stock setup, thus my reply to him was relating to his question.
I also run the Spec II,
It is also located under my turn signal lever.
Yes it does work very well.
yes it is easy to install (assuming you have a descent idea of what you are doing)

I was not lecturing, simply saying that it would be good for raising boost response but, not suggested to raise boost on a stock setup.

IT is a very nice unit with lots of features, and should work well on any turbo car, period.

Is it even neccessary if the car is modded/tuned right? I just bought a car that has a non-working one in it, but it seems the boost runs where I want it without it...

I've got one waiting to be installed but I've been hesitant since I still have boost creep, even with the ported S4 gate. I was going to put it in when I did the monster port with a new flapper...my brother @ the shop argues that the GReddy will handle creep better than the current setup since it uses a stepper motor rather than the old boost solenoid in the car. He maintains that the car will hold boost until redline (I'd believe that) and that it won't creep as badly...any thoughts? I constantly tell him he's wrong hehe

How does the boost limiter function operate? It's just an over-boost prevention method right? It can't LOWER boost, that would be impossible unless you mod the wastegate.

Its all good...see now that is the response that he probably wanted to hear

Like Jreynish said, aside from allowing you to raise boost levels above base wastegate pressure, a boost controller will DRASTICALLY INCREASE boost response...

Running just off the 14.5 psi WG spring I thought my turbo spooled well, then I used the BC, and the response was insane. The car is much quicker even at the same boost levels. I have it set so that the WG stays competely closed until 12 psi, that is how the boost can build so much faster.

----------------
BTW, does everyone have the same boost limit issues. Just wondering if GReddy maybe made some harware fixes in later units?

I'm running 11-12psi on the stock turbo without it working, I wouldn't want to raise the boost level any more than that right? Are you saying I should hook it up anyway for faster response?

Not saying you should, but you could

It worked on my friends car too. We kept it at stock boost levels (well, slightly above), but increased the response with the Profec. Biggest issue was his S4 WG which couldn't handle too much, but it still made a noticeable improvement.

I haven't actually played with this option yet, since I am running really low boost (breaking in) and now it is parked for the winter, but when i get to my car I will check it out... you say it resets everytime you turn the car off and then on again?

Yes. My limiter will come on at like 10 psi (or something like that) Its set to 15.5.
So I have to hit the high/low buttons, then it works again.
