Exclamation Problems with new TII!!! PLEASE READ!!!!!

I just bought an '87 TII that had been sitting for a year...
I drained the old gas and put new gas in it.
I changed the plugs (NGK iridiums), wires (Accel 8mm), and coils.
I put a new battery in it, and new terminals.

I spent a good portion of yesterday trying to start the car.
It was turning over fast, and appeared to have good compression,
but seemed like it wasn't getting fuel. (it was definately getting spark)
I eventually gave up for the night and went inside...

Tonight I went out and tried starting it again,
and to my disbelief, it started right up!!!
It was running very smooth for a car that had been sitting so long.
I let it run for about 10 seconds and the boost was flat-lined,
so I let it idle back down until it cut off.
I tried starting it again, and after abusing the starter,
it finally wouldn't do anything...
All it does is make a click noise when I turn the key...

Did I kill my starter, or is my engine seized???
I hope it's not the latter.....

Please HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

clicking means the starter isn't getting enoughe juice. Your battery is dead or doesnt have enoughe power to pull the starter.

Check the battery for swelling on the sides, if so, replace it, if not, give it a good charge overnight

Oh yea... I just replaced the battery, and it has a good charge...
And it was turning over with the old, weak battery (although much slower)...

you probably have a worn starter. The charcoals on it are probably worn all the way. The clicking noise means your solenoid is ok. Mine did the same. I pulled the rear cap off the starter and had all the charcoals replaced for about 15 bux. It's been working fine since... about 8 months ago.

see if you can turn the motor by hand using a 19mm on the e-shaft bolt. Or you can put it in gear and see if the car rolls. That'll let you know if there's seizing. Try this on your starter for temporary. Hit it with a hammer a couple times. Give it a decent hit, but don't wail on that sucker. It usually gives you a tiny bit more life if it is in fact worn charcoals.

well next time, make sure you let it run for 20 minutes when its started, even if the boost is flatlined. ive seen too many stories about 'i got my car to run, and it sounded funky so i shut it off' . the cars been sitting for a year, its gonna run like ***. youve got to let it warm up unless its like leakin gasoline or blood or something bad.

Thanks guys... I'll keep you posted.
And if it makes any difference...
It ran like sewing machine when it started, and didn't sputter or anything.

OK, it was the starter...
I beat on it some, and after many times trying to turn it over, it started.
It was, however, smoking from around the turbo area.
I was pulling 20 psi of vac at idle and when I revved it to about 4K it only hit 0 psi...
Seemed to run good though, and felt like it had power.
Anyways, I let it run for about 5 minutes with my foot on the gas
before letting it idle back down until it cut off.
Then I tried to start it again and flooded it pretty bad.
I'm positive that it needs a TPS...
Anyone got any input here?

Have you tried adjusting the TPS.
What makes you think you need one?
Sounds like leaky injectors.

You should make 0 boost reving in neutral....

What are the symptoms of leaking injectors?
Should it make 0 boost @ 4K???
I didn't know you could adjust the TPS actually...
I just figured I needed one, because the RPM's drop to 0 when I let off the gas.

leaky injectors cause hot start problems.
yes, it will make approximately 0 boost at 4k in neutral. Not enough load to make a lotta boost. You can adjust the TPS outlined in the FSM. If the RPM's drop to 0 when you let off the gas, and only when the car's warmed up, it may possibly be a misaligned/bad TPS.
