Problemo Multiples
Alrighty, here is the skinny. Some of these may be obvious to some but I'm baffled:
1) Windshield wipers ONLY work on one speed, and stop sometimes then. (I figured the switch is going bad)
2) Have annoying ringing sound when in 1st gear and high RPMs in all gears, can't figure out where it is coming from. Can't be both under the hood and on the gas at the same time.
3) Alarm goes off for no reason, usually at 3AM on cold nights when most inconvienient.
4) Unsteady idle. I haven't messed with anything yet, too paranoid.
Well, thats all, besides the floody bucking door handle that broke today, and the bent muffler that was screwed up when I bought the car. Any advice?
Peace,
Justin

I know it isn't the redline buzzer, I never get that high in the RPMs, it is more like a metallic ringing, but it only happens when the car is cold, or when I get into the Higher RPMs, like around 5500. And just in case it matters it is an '88 SE.

It might be somthing loos in the engine bay or even your shifter. My shifter used to vibrate and make noise at high RPMs. A lot of things could be loose in the engine bay. Ask a friend to start the car while you take a look in the engine bay if you hear nothing then ask him to rev it high once it warms up. Then just track down the noise and start the process of elimination. Make sure all things are tied down that should be.

Well, cross problem number 2 off the list, I replaced all the belts and it seems that the alternator belt was not only loose but mad cracked. I got it revved up to about the 5500 RPM mark and it sounded a whole lot better. I ended up adjusting the alternator up prolly a 1/4 inch to get the tension right. Thanks for everyone's help though.

1) Take the switch apart and clean/replace the contacts. Use that electrical grease on them when you put it back togther
2) You solved
