Problem: Rev past 7000
Problem: High Revs
I'm having some problems with my engine. The car revs to 6.8k rpms easily in 1st gear then it starts to hesitate. Shift to 2nd and the car has a hard time reving past 6.5k.
Any thing i should check for? Is it a electrical matter?
Notes:
- Revs easily to 8k when in neutral
- When the inside lights are on (night driving), when i hit the brakes, the lights dim
- Stereo also cuts out a lot if there's any bass while raising the volume
- Also a 1991 GXL

Mine (89 Auto) will get up to 65k before itll shift but thats only if i put my foot far into it. but i thought that that was because of the tranny type and something to do with the high-stall torque converter or something like that.

hahaha
and for the thread starter it kinda sounds like you might be stressing your stock electrical system. get a volt meter or a DMM and check the voltage at idle, at different RPMs and with headlights/stereo/brakes on.
