problem with rebuilt ported motor

A friend of mine is having trouble with her FC, this is what she had to say about its problems.

"so i have an 88 fc that has a rebuilt ported engine (we bought it ported, not exactly sure which kind it is...we were told bridge) but anyhoo...

she misses are 2600,2700, 2800 rpm, she starts fine in the morning but almost anyother time during the day i have to cut the fuel pump off, wait for her to turn over, then turn the pump back on. annddd her auxilary airports arent opening. im taking her to a guy that has been racing 7s for a long time next week, my dad and i are at a loss as to what else to do. if anyone has any useful advice, it would be much apreciated."

I'm no expert on rotaries so I've come to you guys for help. I'm going up to York,PA for tonight for my buddies bday so I may not be able to pop in.

First off, I would download the fsm. Search google for "rx7 fsm download". Then I would check the timing to make sure it's spot on. Then test the TPS. Flooding can be caused from a number of things but it would help if you posted some more info about your car.

Year
other mods...injectors, fuel pump
exhaust
and of course color.

Sounds like the car just needs a tuneup, including an injector cleaning. But it's hard to guess without knowing how the car has been hacked during the engine replacement.
