problem with illumination switch, need answer.

problem with illumination switch, need answer.

is it common for the illumination to keep shorting located on the headlight switch. i replace that harness twice but the white/green wire keeps burning out causing the plug to melt. the car is completely stock.

Not no expert but you shouldnt have it wired through your head lights. You say it keeps burning out then something is deff wrong.

If you replace the burnt harness without replacing the switch at the same time, the problem will return due to the high resistance at the oxidized switch pins. Also a good idea would be to do the relay mod (search) which takes the parking lamp circuit load off the switch. Also check for corroded lamp sockets causing high resistance and burnt switch wiring.
