problem with 90 core with 88 intake (N/A)

I got an 88 with a 90 engine core that didn't run, and go it to work, but i'm still getting an exhaust leak somewhere around the intake, and i was wondering if anyone has experience with running a 88 intake on a 90 core.
Any help in getting it to run right would be appreciated.

Exhaust leak? Did you use a new gasket? Stock manifold or header?

yup, new gaskets, and stock everything.
Everything in the car is 88 (intake, ecu, etc), except the core. I didn't do the work myself, but the mechanic said some ports in the intake (i don't think intake ports, maybe something for exhaust gas recirculation) don't exist on the 88 intake but are on the 90 core.. i'll have more info in a few days, and i'll take the car home and check it out myself and try and fix it, since the mechanic doesn;t seem to know too much about this.
i was just wondering if anyone ever did this, run a 90 core in an 88 car.
