Prices for turbo balancing?

I searched and couldn't really find anything... Bought a BNR Stage IV and I'm gonna need it balanced very soon... Just trying to get a feel for what I'm getting into...

Depends on who is doing the job and what exactly they are doing.
Static balancing is cheap and simple.
VSR or dynamic balancing requires a super expensive machine.
On average, I've seen $200 to $400 just for the balancing.

Ok well I'll be a little more specific... I bought Jrat's old BNR that he trashed the exhaust housing on, which I don't think is a problem because I have a good S5 exhaust housing with a heavily ported wastegate... But since he actually broke a fin off his exhaust side, what kind of balancing would you recommend?

If you really want to invest in the longevity of your turbo, dynamic or VSR balancing is the only way to go.
BTW, those estimates were for dynamic / VSR balancing.

Static balancing is a LOT cheaper.

Well I don't plan on running this turbo forever. After the summer, it'll be back down for a full upgrade and standalone. Just really need it to last me through the summer. You think with the damage it sustained previously, that it would require dynamic balancing, or could I get by with static for the time being? I just want it to work... lol

If you can salvage the comp wheel, then you should be okay.

Try and check for local diesel repair shops that can handle turbo balancing - that's how we found a local place willing to do dynamic balancing for $300 down here.

Turbonetics charges $400+!

www.turbosdirect.com

It doesn't have a fully built site but they rebuilt my turbo.

They are here in AZ (too bad for shipping since it was already here!)

They did a standard rebuild for me for $200ish so think balancing your turbo with a new turbine should be easy.

Rat's turbo ate an exhaust blade. The compressor side should be fine although I assume the seals will need to be redone as well since the thing went unstable while spinning at a high rpm.

Cool thanks man... I sent them an email and I also plan to check some local diesel shops out... Hopefully the seals are intact... *crosses fingers*

I just saw Jrats other thread. It looks like Brian at BNR is interested in checking it out and maybe rebuilding it and since he built it you may be able to get a better price.
