Price in doing a Turbo Swap for my N/A?

Hey Guys, I've been doing some searching and couldn't find what i was looking for so decided to ask you guys. I've been currently planning on doing a turbo swap for my N/A '91 Vert. I know a lot of rx7club members have done tubro swaps to their N/A's and just wanted to know how much did it cost you?... i know you need more than just the engine, like turbo tranny, rear diff, turbo ECU, harness, etc...

Just wanted to know the average total price range for a turbo swap?

Thanks in advance guys!

are you talking about turbo'ing an N/A engine itself? or buying a completely seperate turbo motor and swapping it out?

depends on where you get the parts from, with prices and weather you get that from someone on here or not but id say around 2500-3000 just a guess though

i have just about 2300 or so in mine. Thats buying the engine for almost 1800.00 though ( what it was worth to me for good compression). If you luck into an engine for much cheaper or come across a parts car for next to nothing you can prob do the swap real cheap. If you plan on staying at factory boost levels, **** the trans dshaft rear and axles off the turbo car. my car has been tina turner for just about a year now, and runs great with a 148 dollar ebay na 6 puck xtd clutch kit.

It is also very important that you buy from someone reliable. I have HEARD good things about japan2la, but personally have not dealt with him. I bought my engine from corksport a year or so ago. Buy from someone who is either trustworthy, or a local place where you can go check compression on your s5 engine.

If that's your vert in your signature, I would not sacrifice a clean looking vert for a turbo swap. Keep it stock and pick up a TII.

i was looking on ebay earlier today and saw a couple of good deals.

complete 13bt engine with transmission, ecu, harness and starter for around $1700.

personally i wouldnt get one without seeing it first though, which is a shame cos i live in Australia and there is nothing where i live, you have to trust the right people when getting a new engine here

I had a JDM S5 13B swapped into my 89 vert. I did everything, a JDM engine, tranny, picked up US driveshaft, diff and half-shafts, RB exhaust, boost gauge, alum. hood and all the other little parts. It ended up costing me around $6k. Since that first cost I've invested in an FD alternator, FD fuel pump and 800cc secondary injectors...next up are some fuel and engine management electronics.

dude you can do it real cheap if you wanna
motor 700-900
new clutch (exedy na) 80
flywheel removal tool 35
t2 afm 200
bov 150
downpipe 250
T2 hood 250
255 walbro fuel pump 100
t2 swap $2000ish

- just buy the turbo motor by it self then a blow off valve and have it welded to the little pipe in between the inter-cooler buy a new exhaust or just get the down pipe AND cat. convert. you can use the na ecu if you want youll just run alittle rich you may have to get the ecu pin out from the fsm and rewire thats what i did YOU CANT USE THE JDM ECU you will hit a wall at 4000 rpm. oh and youll need the turbo 2 afm and if you wanna buy a new clutch buy one for a na and use your na trans and rear end. people are gunna be like ehhh you cant use the na rear end itll break wa wa wa well ive beat the crap out of mine and its still cool i have a 5lug lsd rear end from a gxl 2+2 but i know of guy putin 400hp to the 4 lug and never compland about anything but open wheel. now take your na flywheel off and put it on turbo motor then the new clutch and you na transmissions and BAM instant swap. why cant you use the turbo 2 trans because your na drive shaft has 22 splines and the turbo has 23 splines(the number of gear pins around shaft) i think you could get the t2 drive shaft and mate it to the na rear end but not sure the t2 tranny is probable better for speed but hey were goin for get it runnin and upgrade parts later right? bolt it in and like i said BAM the ecus only have 3 major differences: the twin scroll actuator which runs the same voltage on that wire wether its na or t2, the power steering and knocksensor wire are the same (i just cut that bastard cause it knock box doesnt ever work anyway) and damn one more but cant remeber and you may have to extend the NA harness. oh yeah use your na harness on the t2 motor, and this may be a good time with your motor out to go ahead and PORT you turbos internal wastegate not hard to do just look up the write up.

im ghetto as hell but it works and if you have 2 cars and little money then its how some of us have to do it!
