Pressure leak somewhere in the engine?

hey guys, im looking to buy a 10ae from a guy, but he's having trouble with a leak somewhere, this is a post he made on a forum

"Hey guys I've got a vacuum leak issue with my 88 RX7 turbo, not too sure where its coming from but its definitely on the driver side of the engine bay. My friend and I took out the rats nest and capped all the vacuum lines but the problem still exists.

The issue is causing my idles to fluctuate (revs by itself when i'm in gear, but not moving) when i first start up the car (most likely caused by the vacuum leak), my vacuum reading on the boost gauge is sitting at 10 when it should be at 15. I also have a hard time starting my car, I have to use the flood switch almost everytime. The starter has been replaced so that's not the problem, and the plugs and plug wires have also been replaced.

Any advice would help. We also think that it may be an issue with the brake booster? Not too sure cuz we haven't looked it yet.

Any RX7 guys out there please help!

Thanks"

he tried using brake cleaner on the hoses to look for a leak, has checked the tps and even ended up replacing it, but still no dice.

i suggested to him that it might be the bypass air control valve or bad intake manifold gaskets but still nothing. does anyone else have any ideas!?!?

One place to check would be for cracks in the exhaust manifold...it is fairly common.

Take off your airbox and AFM. you will be left with the open end of the TID.

Now, take your TID to homedepot and find a rubber end cap that would go on the end of a PVC pipe. They should even come with hose clamps. Find one that fits good.

Now, go home and put your TID back on. Then punch a hole thru your rubber cap in the middle. Slip it back onto the TID and get your air compressor to about 30 psi. Then squirt that pressure into this hole. If you have a vacuum leak you will hear it hissing.
