preping my car for sale, need advice

***mods, this is not a for sale add***

im preparing to sell my '91 n/a and i want to get the most i can for it. however, i have done a good number of mods that if not outright hurting resale value, will possibly intimidate your average (dumb/non rotary experienced) joe into not wanting the car.

take a look at my sig to see what ive done.

i'm putting the a/c back, it works but i pulled it cus i was to cheap to get it converted to r134.

so my questions:

should i convert back to omp, or leave it premix?

should i put the battery back in the engine bay or leave it relocated in the cargo bin?

will it be worth it to get the a/c working, or will just having it physically inplace but needing a charge be good?

baisically i want to know if, given the mods i have done would you be more interested in it as it is, or more interested if as much as possible was reverted to oem?

thanks for any thouights, especialy from those of you who have sold modded rx7's.

The closer you can get to stock, the better off you are. Stock = good for resale value unless you've made a real monster out of your car.

i wouldnt look at it as a "resale" situation for the fact that its an rx7 being sold as an rx7 that a rotary lover has owned. it depends on the buyer. i'd rather pay $3000 for a T2 making 300+ than $3000 for the same T2 but stock everything. there's a lot of maybe/if variables, but the biggest is usually the buyer.

yeah, thats what i was thinking, a lot of my mods are ones that are likely to only be i geuss apreciated by a rotary or fc enthusiast, but the flip side of that is how cheap we all are. lol

you suck andrew. i think i still have your powersteering if you want. if your selling it i would say put the battery back up front. put powersteering back on ac back on and put omp back on. leave everything else though

well i need to find a braket for the ps since i sawed mine in 1/2. i geuss the ps would help resale, but i think i could convince someone its better without it, or that it never came with it at all. hehe

jeez, if i put everyhting back i might be able to make a killing on mine like you did on your old n/a. i geuss the gainesville market is pretty good

yea that would work, thats why i never put power steering on my car, i couldnt find a bracket. i had like 2 ac only brackets in the shop but no full brackets. the dude who i sold my NA to didnt mind no power steering. i actually prefer no powersteering. powersteering is to soft for me. Good luck selling it.

I think reinstalling the omp is the most important, people probably aren't very willing to premix (unless it's a rotary enthusiast). Definantly make the car super clean. Don't forget to get your last good-bye drive for yourself. lol.

I was wondering how long a topic like this would take to come up.

I think you'll have a hard time selling the car without it's emissions and idle control equipment. And imagine the reaction that you would get when you inform the interested buyer about premix...

You should reverse the emissions removal, put the BAC back, and do a "proper" manual steering swap if you have just removed the pump and plugged up the power rack. Also, it goes without saying that the metering oil pump should be reinstalled.

Charging the AC and fixing the leak would be a great idea as well.

FIRST - When selling - An ounce of shine is worth a pound of performance.
1) Wax & buff the paint,
2) clean the interior,
3) clean & shine the engine bay.
4) dress up any loose wiring & accessories.

Second working AC really helps to sell in Florida, but the cost may not be justified.

i think i can get away with out the emisions equipment only because this is florida ( i didnt even buy the car with a catalytic converter, no emmisions testing whatsoever). i geuss the bac and probobly the aws will go back on too. good thing i kept all (well almost) of this stuff in a box.

considering what parts i still have it loooks like im going to:

get the battery back up front
reinstall the omp (ill have to figure out something cheap for lines since i broke them on accident)
reinstall the BAC and AWS
reinstall the a/c, do a r134 charge and hope it works.
cruise control too.

im robobobly gona pass on the vac/emmisions eguipment since its such a PITA to get back on. hopefully i can convince the potential buyer that my electric aux/vdi realy is as good as oem....

Bill i see that you have relocated your battery too, what are your thought on this and reslae?

ill need a line and a braket for the ps, but if i can hunt those down ill do it.

Battery location is almost neutral.
The really big deal when selling is that it looks professional - clean - tidy - shine.

I would definately put the OMP back. The new owner probably wont follow premixing religiously unless he already is a rotorhead and might come back to you in a few months with a blown engine. Mods reducing/increasing the value really depend on the person you sell it to. Some people dont want the trouble of doing/buying things themselves but others love starting with a clean slate.
