premixing question

I just got my rebuilt 13b running and I'm premixing. I put in 1.5oz of premix oil per gallon. Just want 2 make sure that's good. My exhaust sleeves are black and have a tacky substance coating them and the apex seals and inside of the engine feel lubed.

Everyone has different numbers, but I think the generally accepted standard is 1oz per gallon.

I deleted my omp and I run 1oz per gallon. No smoking and my internals were lubed nicely when I pulled apart my engine. I'm a firm believer in premix.

1oz per gallon is more than enough for most...

that tacky substance is extra premix, either use a little less or drive harder

You can do that or dilute the mix with just straight gas if you know how much is left.

I run 10-12 oz per tank of fuel. Any more than that is probably too much for normal driving.

well I just ran out of gas so I will probably do 1.10oz per gallon when I get her broke in and tuned. I intend to drive the **** out of this engine.

slightly more is better than slightly less, the only drawback is going to be possibly fouling the plugs.

i have recommended 1.5oz per gallon before on rebuilds during break in but generally i recommend 1oz per gallon for regular driving and 1.5 for the track.

I don't have my omp blocked off. I use .5 oz per gallon of gas.

Yes we do.

Regardless of whatever internal wear may already exist, and with the factory MOP installed , it is never a bad idea to run with premix.

I've never had a fouling issue, but I'm also bat **** crazy and replace my plugs as part of regular maintenance.

Yes. There are three camps basically.

1. Those that don't want the annoyance of pre-mixing and run OMP.

2. Those that don't want to commit to pre-mixing and buy the 4oz bottles and run 4oz per tank plus OMP.

3. Those that commit to pre-mixing and run around .5 - 1oz/gal.

---

It is generally accepted that pre-mixing is better then OMP though you will find some outliers that don't agree.

I run 100:1 on dd(1oz of oil to 1gal). Track I use 200:1(2oz per 1gal)

I prefer maxima 2stroke oil. Its a smokeless forula and also leaves less carbon.

just so people don't read this incorrectly. there is 128 fluid ounces in a gallon, so 1 ounce per gallon is 128:1.

2 ounces per gallon is 64:1.

2 stroke engines for example generally run 24:1 to 40:1, smaller less labored engines 50:1. the spark plugs on the 24:1 engines usually last about 10 hours if you're lucky before beginning to foul, infinitely longer on the 50:1 engines.

I just started premixing. My FC still has the OMP on it and I am running 200:1 ratio. No smoking and it may be my mind playing tricks on me, but the engine runs noticeably smoother.

I also still have both OMP in my 90 91 & premix lightly .5 per gallon. I didn't feel like buying block off plates & hanging the OMP off my strut tower.

This is the correct answer.

little bit of trivial information- but I have been running an ounce per 5 gallons of good 2 stroke in my superduty every other tank or so and it definitely runs smoother
