You see different numbers because the amount depends on the engine and driving conditions. For example, non-turbo racing engines usually run on a mix of about 0.7 oz per gallon for lighter levels of racing or 1.3 oz per gallon for higher-stressed peripheral ported non-turbo engines, while turbocharged racing engines in the 600hp range are up to about 4.5 oz per gallon.
