Premix and leave OMP?
Ok guys I have read the archives and I am now deciding to go with pre-mix next season only if u think it is a good idea.
car specs:
86 n/t 5spd 80,xxx miles
drivin 2-3 days a week not many miles gonna be put on this car.
no cats
racing beat dp
racing beat pre silencer
I am preaty sure that the omp works, however I would like that added security however I dont want to remove the omp (I would hate to forget to mix)
my question is would this be a good car to use pre-mix WITH the omp on?
I normally drive the car hard (well ok always do), I normally cruise at 4kish dont shift till 4k minimum noramlly upper 6k
anyways what do u guys think... the season is about done for me but I was palnning to prolly do this come this next season by which time I plan to have a ported s4 intake, cold air intake box in style, aftermarket mufflers or racing beat cat back
if any of that matters its there for your determination

Opinions are like........
If its an S4, isn't it easy enough to disable?
Ok, you can run both. But, too much oil will add to carbon buildup. That carbon can lead to preignition or detonation. And, excessive oil in the fuel can reduce octane number.
IMO, remove and test the oil injectors. Test the OMP output. If all is in spec, per the FSM, then you should only run supplemental premix with a working MOP, 1-2 ounces per 5 gallons of gas.
If you disable the oil metering pump, then run .5-1.5 ounces per each gallon of gas.
Use higher amounts for the tanks run at the track! Lower for daily driving.

ok I will test eventually but I was only meaning running liek 1oz per 3-5 gallons or so.. I did not mean to run FULL pre-mix and omp sorry if it sounded like I was refering to that
so I guess to rephrase would it hurt or do u recomend I run the omp AND say 1oz of premix per 3-5 gallons?

and there is a plug kit to do this? or how would I go at doing so?

yeah I have read that but it leans more to remove the stock OMP and just use pre-mix. not sure if I want to remove a system that is working.
I was just trying to figure out if it would be BETTER to due both mix 1 per 3-5 AND omp or just omp

And, ANY spec'd 2-stroke oil will work. Don't waste your money on fancy marketing gimmicks. Wallyworld brand is good enough.
Another option for supplemental premix, instead of 2-stroke oil, is to add UCL's like Marvel, Lucas, Lubrigas, Tru-blu, Morey, Flashlube, BP, Deezo, GTA, Bio-Valve...... to your gas.
The above can be used as fuel lube supplements with working OMP but SHOULD NOT BE USED as standalone premix. Only 2-stroke oil should be used as standalone premix(OMP disabled).
Keeping the OMP working is great if you're lazy or forgetful. Disable or bypass it ONLY if you will ALWAYS remember to add the 2-stroke to your fuel.
Another supplemental option for the forgetful crowd is a vacuum feed metering oiler. These are common on some older LPG/CNG vehicles. They are simple 'metering valves, a reservoir, and a Tee'd in hose to a vacuum source that you can make/adjust yourself'. Those little hobbyshop carb's from remote control cars/airplanes work great as 'vacuum metering valves'.

Don't forget the PCV adapters which allows you to keep the OMP and feed the OMP with a reservoir of 2-stroke oil. But, you are limited to the feed rate of the MOP and might still want to add some extra to the fuel.

made my own blockoff plate and I premix 1oz per gallon of sunoco tcw3. Trust me youll never get a straight answer of the correct premix to use or how much per gallon.

In my personal OPINION I would not run both. Maybe just a slight slight amount of premix. Like, 1 oz per tank!
Although, I Just recently learned of I think, and Rteck chip (and there was another brand with a booth a sevenstock) for the N/A which from what I understood, Allows you do disable the MOP and just run premix, without removing anything, or putting the comp into limp mode. Id check up on that. Seems like the best way to go.

I never understood the "supplemental premix" thing or whatever it's called.
Premix with no OMP = ~16oz / tank
Supplemental Premix = ~4-6oz / tank (roughly)
If you're premixing with the OMP for "protection", I'm assuming it's just in case the OMP fails. But... if it does, will the "supplemental premix" suffice?

Yes, more likely than not. The stock OMP does not inject 1oz per gallon during normal driving.
Disbelief? Then just check it out for yourself. Have/make a dedicated OMP oil supply reservoir, and go drive a full tank of gas under NORMAL driving and then see how much oil was used from the *Dedicated* oil supply.

Hell, NSU originally mixed oil in with gas at a 2% proportion.

personally, i premix an ounce/gallon (1/128) on top of the omp. i have done this for 10k miles on this engine, which i rebuilt a couple years ago. the plugs show no signs of build-up and the compression is great on the engine.

whats going on?

if your premixing with the omp, dissaable the ability to throtle it. simple detach the controle rod from the tb, and let it hang. then you can premix. i would put only 10 oz of oil in the gas tank ( i alwase ran it dry then refilled ).
this way your not putting in enough oil to bother the premix., yet your not premixing too much.
also, you can eaisally revert back to stock.

the rod is that the little rod that attaches to the throttle and then disapears between the alternatof and air pump and seems to go down to the bottom of the case? I noticed that rod the other day when I was reving my car at the linkage I was wondering if that was for the omp..
so your saying it is ok to pull that rod off, leave the omp on and then just pre-mix from there?
if I do that I shoudl go what 1oz:1gal or 1oz:2gal
