Pre-Broken In Motors, How does it work?

Hey,

I was reading on mazdatrix's site and they said they have pre-broken in motors for race purposes, now does this mean that the seals are different or what? I've seen racing beat selling race apex seals and a race rebuild kit, does this mean that you don't need to break in the motor? A nice thorough explanation would be great, thanks

It means they put the motor in a car and drove the holy **** out of it for a little while and put it on a shelf to sell as "pre-broken in"...

Most "pre-broken-in" engines have been run on an engine stand through a reasonably complete breakin period. It varies the engine speed under load, runs it at gradually higher RPMs, and theoretically does a wonderful job of breaking the engine in.

Or I've recently heard that they put them on an engine dyno and run them a certain period of time to save you the break-in effort...

Thanks for the heads-up, though!
