Powersteering removal & cap... ok just a little help. (56k pict maybe)

ok...
I removed the p/s pump and bolted/capped one side of the rack. Its with a red bolt in the picture.

The problem though is the other port has a larger bolt. If I remember right, m16x1.5@15mm...
Thats a hard *** ******* bolt to find. nowhere in town, or anywhere within 400 miles has one. And at that, they have ones that are 100mm long, not 15mm.

So... I doubt you guys special ordered a bolt to do the p/s removal and cap. What did you do?? Did you loop that port around (it goes to the p/s cooler).

Any ideas?

try this. On my 86 GXL, I used a M12 X 1.25 in position # 1 and #2. I used a M16 X 1.5 in the #3 position. I got the M16 from the hardware store next to the China Buffet across from Baken Park by Jackson Blvd. Its about 25mm long, but you can take it to Johnson Machine and have them cut it down and clean up the threads.

Only thing wierd in your picture is that the #1 spot on yours looks like there is no hole there. Were there 2 lines coming from the pump to the rack?

Anybody want to guess why I don't have a port at position one???

EDIT: I can't believe hardware hank had that freaking bolt. I spent 3 hours in town trying to find that bolt, going to napa, johnson machine, fastenall, and two catipillar places...

Whenever I cant find a bolt short enough I just get the big one and cut it with a rotary tool.
