what should my oil pressure be at idle, and what should it be when driving. mine idles just below 30 and only ever gets up to half way between 30 and 60 when driving.

Proper oil pressure is between 64-78psi at 3k RPM, as per the factory service manual. Over 3K should be the same, idle should be around 20-25psi.

Low oil pressure could indicate a failed thermo bypass pellet or a bad guage, amoung other things.

shmailz, what are you using to confirm your Oil Pressure reading? Stock Gauge?

At Idle, your Engine ranges from 20 to 40 psi. Above 3000 rpms Is approximately 70 psi (mine Is at 75).

Or the gauge may just be crap. The oil pressure gauge in my mechanic's GSL-SE has never worked properly, and his 7 is still running fine...
