power windows HELPPPPPP

hey guys and girls...

I need to know how to manually lift my drivers side power window because i let it down and now the switches will not lift the window...i know the unit is getting power because my watt guage fluctuates whenever i lift or press the switch and i know theres nothing stuck in the tracks so it must be either the motor or some other thing i cannot think of i know the spring in the plastic tubing lifts it... but wat tool do i use to set the spring?

Thanks

Take your door apart.........its not as hard as it sounds....you can pretty much tell from there what is wrong. It sounds tho as if you might have a blown door motor

well what i would do is take the door apart and find the motor. then hold the switch in the up position, and tap the motor with a tool of some sort. as hard as you need to see if it will kick it back to working. its not a permanent fix. but it might make your window go up. and please dont hold me resposible if you break something. ive used this before. if it works then your motor is going bad.

Take a flathead screwdriver, and on one end of the switch holder, gently insert and pry up lightly. Then do the same on the other end. The switch will be in your hand, disconnect the
plug. Then take the switch apart, and you will be surprised at how much carbon is built up on the connections.

I used CRC electronic cleaner, and some 800 grit sandpaper. Now they work like brand new. Or you could take the door off like they said, and accomplish the same thing.

from what he said it gets power when he hits the switch....his volts drop. would the carbon cause the window to not work but the volts to drop?

If you take a piece of electrical wire, and seperate the strands. Now, touch one of the wires to the connection you are trying to make. Isn't it going to give you a drop in volts, but not make the circuit work? Its the same principle.

I had the same trouble, among other issues, but now the switches make the bad boy go up and down.

Yah, mine wasn't working today in the cold.
So I took out the switch peace and took it apart and then clean out the ugly dirt and crap out and then put it back together and the window went up, but on my side that wont do for long, I need a new motor. Well, I need a whole new door, seeing as the door spring that lets you open the door from the outside broke and the inside of the door is rusting out cuz its leaking watter into it. But thats something to do next year if I cant afford to drop a new engine (TII)

Ok, bear with me and see if this works. Please let me know if it does, or doesn't, so I can do something different.

Try powerdog@www.msnusers.com and click documents, the power window rebuild

and http://www.flickr.com/photos/73185993&N00/

Hope it works.

Sorry guys, I am just going to write it up on new thread, and figure some way of posting photos. When I try to put it as an attachment on this site, say photos are too large. I will post the write up, at least, in the next hour.

I looked at the document in the link that you provided and the written intructions were there, but no pictures. You may want to embed the pictures before posting. Great tutorial!
