Power window switches

I heard there was a difference between the power window switches in the S4 and S5 models, so what was the difference? Can anyone snap some pictures of their S5 switches for me? Thanks!

They were simular in design and look, but internally Mazda went with a compact seperate switch, rather than the high current parts that composed the switch on the S4.

They wire exactly the same either way.

The cheaper design S5 switches, tend to break the internal switch tabs rendering the switch usless. So if you have S4 switches keep them.

I guess I got a quick question here. My driver's side window switch has to be clicked up twice before it will start to roll up. Is this what they are supposed to do or is it broke somehow?

usually what happens with the S4 switches is the high current melts the plastic surrounding the contacts and binds up the contact with the breaker arm. easy fix is to shave off the melted plastic that is blocking the arms path, clean the contacts and be sure not to hold the switches longer than necessary. i have repaired several S4 switches and none have started to fail yet again and only takes about 10 minutes to repair.

Mine were just plain shorted out man. The driver's side one got grounded out a few times when I touched the door frame and the passenger's side one just got broke in half.

i did the same thing. I was bumed cuz i couldnt roll my passenger window down from the driver side switch . i thought that i was gonna need to buy a new switch . but on a hunch i pulled the switch and low and behold one of the easiest switch setups i have ever seen .. cleaned the contacts and now the windows work like a charm . saved money and only spent about 10 minutes of my time and now have windows that work perfectly

I just got a S4 switch from a GXL in Pick and Pull. but only my driver's window works. I see all the same color wiring on the S4 switch but in different locations,

do i have to change the pins in order for the S4 switch to work in my S5?

No... still plug and play, regardless of if S4 or S5

i've cleaned the connection of the S4 switch, and now i can control the passanger side window from the driver's side

but the passanger side switch can't control its own window... whats weird is, if i press the pass switch, it draws power and stops the window when i close it from the driver's side....

so should i just keep cleaning?

same happens with mine...if i press both the passenger and the driver's switch it looks like it draws too much power and slows/stops the window from going up.

yeah, could be either switch however I would suspect that it would be the passengers switch now or the passengers power switch in the drivers switch.
