power window switch fix

Hey guys, I took apart my power window switch and
found the little copper pieces[not the points] in bad
shape. Has anyone here attempted to make new copper
pieces or found them anywhere?

if your are talking about the female ends, just try to get a replacement from a junker. but if it is the male ends, you can usually just clean them. Small amounts of CLR or equivalent work wonders. It will restore it conductivity by removing corrosion, etc. It they are seriuous owned, they might need replacement, again, junker. Also, if they should be bad to the point where they need replacement if all other components are working properly.

likely they will all look alike (as in wear). i used wd40 and cleaned them up.
if you would like to try something (depending on your problem which i will address in a second), hook up your switch WITHOUT the actual switches on there; only the little circuit with white sliders. i say this because i took mine apart to clean and put it back together. my driver side didnt want to go down. after all that work, nothing was fixed. the thing is, the slider works. i dont know what it was, but the black switch wouldnt roll the window down. it wasnt the error of the electronics, but the black switch. i dont know if i didnt put it back together right, but it was doing the exact same thing as before.

I used the tip of a small screwdriver to scrape the black off the tips of the contacts.
Then clean it out with spray contact cleaner.
(CRC brand "QD contact cleaner" from Home Depot)
That stuff is great for all switches, contacts, position sensors, stereo *****, logicon buttons & sliders.

The 2 copper conductors that touch the points
is what Im talking about. I have cleaned up the
points but the copper condutors are burnt.
I was just seeing if anyone had found something
to replace the copper conductors that touch the
points.

If they are too burned to clean up with a straight tip screwdriver, some fine sandpaper will polish them up.

The tricky part is when the plastic button fractures.

ed- A friend tried to pull the window switch to open the door...

That is only on the 86-88 window switches. The 89 and later use a entirely different setup.
