Power steering removal(I swear it's new!)

Okay, I got the FD alt. coming, and a RP underdrive main pulley, so the PS is going along with the A/C. Here is the question. To see what it would be like I just took the belt off the A/C and PS and the thing was a beast. Even at speed it was hard to turn the wheel very far. In an all out racecar this is not something I'd want to deal with. When I take off the lines and drain the excess fluid will it get ALOT better? I realize I was trying to push the fluid through the pump, but this was ridiculous and speed had no bearing on how hard it was.

Yeah i left my power rack in after the power steering pump was removed and drove around with it for about a year and i have to tell you its a pretty big pain in the ***.
I highly reccomend you remove it completly and swap in a manual rack. It is eaiser to steer and from what ive exprienced, improved the steering response.

Ive almost gotten into accidents from trying to steer my old power rack quick enough to get out of a jam.

i just did this mod, i aslo ran without a belt for about a year. i thought it was awesome, especialy on the autocross. no you dont just drain the fluid. i'm not sure witch power steering system you have but i have or "had" the electronically controled one not engine speed controlled. i just looped the 2 main lines together and caped the electronically controled line. but i'm not expert. up to now i havent had a problem i feel like taking the ps pump out has turned it into a fb, steering wise

I have an 86 GXL, I'm honestly not sure if it's electrically controlled PS or not. My plan is to just remove the PS, and all the lines. Then, when I take the bolts out of the PS rack, I'll turn it to full lock both was(drains "pressurized" fluid) and put in new bolts that don't have fittings on them for the lines. I read about it in another thread. Once doing that you guys say it'll be more than bearable? I'm hesitant to put the manual rack in because I know it takes more steering wheel turns lock to lock and I drift so speed in getting to full opostite lock is a consideration.

manual steering on a s4 w/o power assist is not bad at all, just takes getting used to. on a s5 with the ps pump taken out and the lines capped it isnt too bad either, i duno i really like the non assist feel it take a while in parking lots when your backing out or parallel parking but worth it in my opnion, much more feel for the road.
