Power Steering Problem

I have an 89 TII and the power steering was not working. No leaks and it had fluid so I assumed it was the pump. So I put a known working pump on it from my 88 NA. Well still no power steering whatsoever. The power steering computer is hooked up and in place. All the fuses are fine. No leaks, lines hooked up correctly and a known good pump and still no power steering and yes I have the belt on it.

Any ideas anyone? Could it be the rack or maybe the lines are clogged up or something? The car had a lot of ad on mods to it that were all taken out before it was sold.

Thanks for any help.

Ditch it. I know that's no help but that's my suggestion.

So the power steering assist doesn't work at all and the steering feels heavy? If it's not the pump or leaks, its most likely the rack. Replacing it should fix it, or you can depower your current rack by removing the pump and internal seals on the rack....

Yes the power steering is completely MIA. I was thinking of grabbing the lines and rack from my 88 NA but before I do that I wanted to hear some ideas on why it might not be working. I don't like the idea of depowering because I drove my NA for 2 years which has PS and I got really used to it. Ever raced for 4-8 hours in a night without PS? Well I've done it with PS quite a few times and I don't think I could do that without PS.... I'm a skinny guy not very strong.

After a month you won't know the difference and you'll be a little stronger. I prefer racing without power steering. But then again I've been power steering free for like 6 years.
