I took mine out. You dont feel any horse power gain, but the engine bay looks so much cleaner and the I like the steering response much better.

I pulled out all that p/s bull ****. You do unfree some hp. (just a little)and the motor bay gets so much cleener. Best of all, you get that real sport car feel. It just holds the road or tarmatt better. Just point and go!

A friend of mine pulled his and left in the power rack. It was heavy when not moving, but once moving down the road, it had a very nice feel. Did you guys swap in the manual rack?

Again I say, if you think it's too tight without the power steering...then you are a feeble 90 year old woman. Or at least you're built like one

No, its not that hard. The suspension geometry is much much better, as is the technology. Just leave some fluid in the rack, and loop the outside lines and cap the middle. Simple as that!
Enjoy!

oh yea, the FC is lighter, that always helps!

I did it on my car, and from the top of my head, basically all you do is loosen the belt tensioner, remove the belt. The take out the mounting bolts, drain the unit by tipping upside down. Just follow along the lines, removing anything that will hold them to the chassis of the car. Once you get to the rack and pinion, remove all lines going to it, and then loop the outside onces, and plug the one in the middle. It took me about 25 minutes to take mine off. Really simple!

One nice thing about useing the power rack without the power is the gearing is better lock to lock... The Manual rack is almost 3 complete turns, the power is only 2 turns i beleive (which also makes the power rack harder to turn than the manual)

Dude, leave a big ugle hole where the stereo used to be (save some weight) thats my favorite. Then remove the a/c (more weight) it really helps the resale value. Then when you get done the chicks will be really impressed how you gutted your car into a ugly jalopy.

lol right now i do have a big ugly hole where the radio was... but that cuz i bought with no radio.. and my a/c is gone.. but i'm in canada and with 2 decent size windows and a sunroof a/c not gonna be needed.. it is heavy but it just makes it sooo much easier to work on the engine.. and who cares about resale?? i have no plans to sell my 7.. you wouldn't get what you spent on it anyways

so you run the 2 lines that goto the pump itself together and just yank the rest out..and thats it? what do you connect those 2 lines together with?

Damn jack, you should have Pmed me. I have done this to 3 cars so far, hit me up, it takes less than 30 minutes.

The feel in the cars afterwards is great, the weightloss is felt and increase can be felt in the buttmeter.
