Power Governor

i just bought a 1990 RX-7 GXL and i think i have a governor on it because every time i hit 6k rpm the car stops feeding gas into the engine, does anyone know if it is a governor or maby an engine problem, i bought the car off a used car lot, looks clean, the engine has been completely detailed, but everything looks stock, it has 84k origional milesn on the car

Over rev cut out on that motor is 8500K not 6K.

It sounds like the VDI is stuck, rather than the motor is dieing as would happen if the injectors really "stopped feeding gas into the engine".
