Post your stripped interiors!
Please post up pics of your stripped interiors, don't be bashful!
I'm looking to get a T2 project car and I want to strip the interior, just curious as to how it looks and what you guys have done.

Actually, the car is being built to ITS specs for SCCA club racing. The cage is overbuilt simply because this is my hobby, and I have two beautiful, young daughters that I want to see grow up.
I don't really expect the car to be much over weight, if any. I have been diligent in taking all of the insulation out, and paying attention to weight when I add parts back in. Time will tell.

You'll be fine Chris. Mine's 20-50 lbs light with my 210lb butt in te car depending on who's scales you use. Don't you already have a car?
The fuel system in my car (also an ITS car) consists of an ATL 22 gallon fuel cell with built in surge tank, a Holley Blue lift pump, another custom 1qt surge tank and a Carter high pressure FI pump. All the lines are -8AN (really bigger than is needed, especially for the return) and the fuel rails are drilled and tapped S4 units. The secondary rail needs to have the mounting tabs cut off and rewelded in a slightly different spot to mount to the S5 intake. We tried welding -AN fittings to a stamped steel S5 rail and always found leaks.
And with all the surge tanks and a 22gal cell he'd never run out of fuel in a sprint race right? Wrong! Ran out at M-O this year. We get about 8mpg everywhere it seems but M-O and we only get 5 there! So what I thought was plenty of fuel got me about half way through a 12 lap sprint.

oh man... that sucks! I lost a little street sprint because of surge but thats not as bad as actually getting on the track and going dry.
You guys wouldn't happen to have a link for the ITS rules do you? I had a hell of a time finding them last time I looked.

... I never realized there was so much space in the car!
btw, what happened to Jimmy's pics of his interior? I was just glancing at them before; now I go back for a better look... and they're gone.

And as far as the interior tar goes there is a good thread in the racecar tech section on that right now. The consensus is that the stuff comes out the best when cold. I work in a auto assembly plant and to make this stuff stick we heat it. And I've removed it when it's cold and it'll come out in large sheets with absolutely no residue.
