BTW I've started this motor, lots of smoke out the back, maybe because it wasn't started for a while? grey smoke, didn't really smell sweet.

$400 dollars sounds okay, that car looks like it has some potential. I say go for it, don't part it out. Those wheels are pimp. Grey smoke as in whitish grey? How long did the car run? The smoke was their the whole time? My FB smoked pure white smoke out the tail pipe for like 5-6 minutes straight, my turbo II smoked for about 3.5 minutes, both cars now run nice without much smoke at all.

Yeah, 400 for the 1st one, pics on end of 2nd page and beginning 3rd, the 2nd one not sure on price yet and it is the last 2 posts i posted. After i started it up it started to ease up on the smoke, at first it was ALOT then it started calming down. by the way about putting the 19mm wrench on the main pulley i have to take off the clutch fan huh? i couldn't jimmy my way around it. I'm thinking of getting the first one and maybe later on getting the 2nd one for a part out.

here is a pic of my $400 89. It took some work and some money to get it back but its a daily driver and I could not buy a car that is more fun, or performs better than my GTU for the money I've put into it. Besides it keeps me busy

Buy the car, get it running, sell it for a profit or restore and enjoy it. Please do part out a car in this condition.

GTUser your car looks like the exact condition of the gxl, i just think yours has better paint. I've decided to get the gxl, but first i'm going to go to mazda, check if title is clear, i think registration expired in december 04 and put my battery on it and do a compression test. I bought a tune up kit but it didn't come with a spark plug adapter does anyone know where to get one? and as soon as i finish registering/smogging my 88 gtu its going to be up for sale and i hope to make what i want off it. Also the list i made on the first page, what are just the basics to do before i actually start it? I think this is good enough right?

Castrol GTX 20W50 - 10
OEM Filter- 5
Prestone Coolant- 10
Distilled water- 2
Prestone Flush- 3
Alternator, Smog belt -20

As for the 91 coupe, it can stay there until i want to part that out. and is that bumper worth anything? How much do you think i can sell the gxl if i cleaned it up really nice, did a full tune up, and registered/smogged it?

Its too nice of a car and has too much potential to part it out. You're doing the smart thing by checking the title and I'd run a check on the VIN number just to be sure. Change the fluids and then get it started, the spark plug wrench I use is about 13/16", I don't know the metric equivalent but any good auto parts store or Sears should have a socket that'll work. Let us know what you find out about the car. Good Luck

PS - what I meant to say in my previous post is don't part it out! I'm glad you feel the same way abut these beautiful cars.
