possible to run w/o TPS???

Whaddup 'heads!
I was wondering if it is possible to run w/o the TPS? Anything else I can ditch? I'm running a car where smog is no issue? Is it feasible? Thanks.

My TPS is sitting right infront of me. LOL.

89 N/A.

Feesable? HAHA, Let's see...

Prepare for 6 miles to teh gallon of gasoline. (Yeah, that's right. I said 6 miles to the gallong.)
Prepare for ATLEAST a 35 percent drop in power.
Prepare for back-fires at idle, and when letting off gas.

Other than that... yeah, it'll run.

If its a S5, the anit-flood won't work (ECU can't recognize 100 percent throttle)

The ECU's failsafe function for a non-working TPS is 100 percent throttle. So you'll be running pig rich (IE why your car bogs, and uses so much gas). The ECU thinks your foot is STOMPED on the gas, but the throttle body plates are still closed. Thankfully the AFM is there to correct this SLIGHTLY (you'd have a **** load of fuel being dumped if it werent for the AFM I suppose), but you're still running very rich.

On s5 cars, no.

ON s4 cars, yes. I have done it with mixed results, some cars don't seem to mind, some won't run without it well. I ran one of my cars for months without one, no ill effects.

I just adjusted my TPS the other day and forgot to plug it back in before test driving it (duh!) It ran well, except for small, rapid backfires on decelleration.

I plugged it back in, and ran pretty much the same without the backfires on decel.

ran mine for a long time without one
hell that is how I bought the car

gave me some good backfires when letting off the throttle but nothing to worry about most of it was also due to the headers though I think

as far as gas mileage goes think I manage to get about 30 mpg one time with no tps
avg was around the same as with the tps not sure on that though

but my car is foockered up
almost seems to get better gas mileage with no o2 sensor right now also :\

it'll run but sooo rich that you'll wish you hadn't done it. best advise is to leave it, it has no bad effect only good ones and doesn't wiegh enough to worry about

if you remove it, the ECU won't know that you are at idle when you are and the fuel will not be cut upon decel (meaning expect backfires which you should already have if you have no ACV and air pump) ...

The TPS might also be used for other things but I can't think of one right now.

so if you have already removed the BAC and emissions related stuff, I don't think it's gonna make a big difference whether it's there or not. You can just try to drive without it and see if you like it.

and yeah, your mpg should go slightly up but I have the feeling that's the last of your worries.

Thanks for the input. I had mixed thoughts on whether or not to trash the TPS. Just checking out options.
It reads proper amperage, just havin' a "fun" time adjusting the thing.
I had a TII set-up in one of my other projects ('69 BMW 2002) a few years back and it ran fine - w/o TPS, go figure.
Anywayz, think I'll stick it out and adjust it 'til I peg it.
Thanks again for the help.
