Possible Poly Mount GROUP BUY

I've been making mounts for the FD's recently, and everyone is very happy with them. I'd like to get a feel for how many of you guys would be interested in getting some poly motor and/or tranny mounts. They would be cheaper than any of the other options. Price has not yet been determined, I would have to get material quotes once I see the potential interest.

Material would be black 95A durometer polyurethane with grade 8 hardware being used.

Just post if you'd like motor mounts, tranny mounts, or both.

Thanks,
Cody

I've been looking to go competition motor mounts come summer autox season, not sure if you can beat those prices with polyurethane.

Poly motor mounts are too stiff for me. Although the rear diff is much too lose for my taste so I would put a poly mount in there.

I'm considering ordering poly engine & tranny mounts from Banzai racing, their price for everything is $170, give me a better price and I'll see.

I'd like the whole set of drivetrain mounts as seen here:

MMR Polythylene

If you can beat that price, I'm in. I think the salesman for MMR is a member of this forum so, let the competition begin!

Does this mean the bolt / nut goes through the mount entirely?

I couldn't beat the MMR price, but then again that's not polyurethane. I'll get some numbers and get back with everyone. I won't be making diff mounts just yet, but I'll be set up to turn nylon very soon.

No answer about if it's just a bolt through a block of PU?

If I was still in the market I would say I want both...

but Im going to be blunt AND honest here - the ebay mounts are DIRT cheap and work TREMENDOUSLY well

In order for me to either buy or recommend anything else you'd HAVE to match that price

I'm sorry, I thought you were referring to the eBay ones posted. Yeah the bolt goes entirely through the poly in my mounts.

Do you work with Broken09? If so then I'm interested in what you're going to be making.

And what is the difference between polyethelyne and polyurethane?

Broken09 and myself setup the first affordable group buy for FD motor mounts. Then he stopped making them, but there was still a demand, so I picked up where he left off. I've made roughly 50 sets with only good feedback. I use only the best materials for the application. The mounts will last the life of your car.

UHMW Polyethylene has a slightly lower operating temperature than Polyurethane (although still good for the application) and is also MUCH harder (than the poly I use), maybe that is why some of you say the additional vibrations are too much. It is also much cheaper than polyurethane. I could do sets much cheaper if made with polyethylene. However I'm not saying that the mounts made by MMR are inferior. In fact if they work well enough for everyone I'll use that material instead. The harder plastics are easier to machine too .

whats the projected price for the set?

because we can talk all day about the benefits of one plastic over another - but the bottom line is:

I can buy mounts off ebay for x dollars - they will work the life of the car.

I can buy mounts from you for x dollars - they will work the life of the car.

We are talking about a critical part...but not a part so complicated that I can justify spending twice the amount of money on one that is "superior"

Exactly why I'm now going to test Polyethylene. If it works well enough that I can stand behind it I'll be able to offer mounts cheaper than anything currently available. That's how I do it! I'm making mounts for a member (look below your post) with an FC that will try them out before I fully release them.

It looks like it'll be motor and tranny mounts for now. I've got to test the diff bushings to see if an aluminum sleeve will be required to reduce wear. Probably not, the plastic is quite resilient, but I'd like to make sure before I start selling them.

I'm currently working on the price but it would depend on the quantity. Would you guys be more interested in a group buy or would you want me to have the mounts ready to ship before posting them forsale? If a group buy will work I can start that this week. Mounts will ship within 1 week of the close of the group buy. You can check the 3rd gen motor mount group buys to see how good the times have been.
