Possible Headlight Mod

I'm not sure if this would be possible but if it were it would be a mod purely for fun. Could one replace the headlight retractor assembly (ie. motors and whatnot) with electronic linear actuators that can move from full "open" to full "closed" in about a second or less ( i know they exist and are pricey) to make the headlights really POP up and disappear again? It would be purely for fun much like modifying ones power window motors to do the same.

Most electronic linear actuators are far too expensive for that kind of speed and power. Otherwise, it'd be funny. Your car could blink.

It's almost the same as stock minus the modification needed to fit the faster actuators. The only difference would be that the headlights go up and down faster. Nothing more.

It would be worth it to make them come up, one goes down and up, like you are winking at someone and then go back down.

I've been thinking about making my car wink ever since I bought her. I'd think you could do it with the existing motors by hooking up some sort of butten or switch. Anyone actually do this?

Yes, someone did. I'm not sure where the thread is.

I think they just placed a switch in the headlight wiring that shut off the power to one headlight when the switch was used.

Why would they blow faster? None of this mod has to do with the actual light.

The stock lights already go up in less then a second...Exactly how fast do you need your headlights to move? And why?

Linear actuators are kind of slow. If you really want them to shoot up, use pneumatic cylinders...Of course then you need a compressor, air tank, solenoids, etc...

He has turrets and doesn't want his car to blink/twitch less than him?

I don't think "Kit" from Knight Rider could wink, and that car can talk. This technology is probably still years away.
