Possible fuel related problems?
Hey guys i need some help with my car, its an 88 tII and the mods are in my sig.
Basically whats happening is my car is hesitating at sort of random rpm's like sometimes at 2k and other times at the 3800k. Also if i go like 80mph and let go of the gas suddenly my car starts poping like almost backfiring but not as loud it started happening kinda recently. In adition to this when i let go of the gas the car starts running kinda bumpy like its jumping or somthing.
Im thnking this problem is possibly fuel related, like possibly the injectors being dirty or somthing, or that im running too rich.
My fuel consumbtion has been normal for a TII soi cant say anything about that just those 2 major issues.

How does it idle? My first thought was a vacuum leak. Do you have confidence in all your grounds? If all that's good then I would start looking into the afterburn system and how it might be affected by the emissions removal.
Ok cool, thanks for the response, yeah well my idle is almost always at 1500rpm, other times its at like 1k or 750 its never really at one steady idle.
As far as the afterburn system, where is it? Can this cause the symptoms i stated above? Thanks for the help so far.

And you can use WATER instead of flammable gases (in case you don't feel like risking burning all the hair off of your head...)

Would this be done by the same as spraying carb cleaner and watching/hearing the idle go up..???
I've never tried water. Since it doesn't burn I don't know how that would do it.
Might want to put your smoke out before trying the flammable gas routine.

The water doesn't 'need' to burn. All you're trying to do is change the idle. If you have a vac leak and water gets sucked into it, it'll change the idle (the motor will bog.)
And unlike carb cleaner and the others, water is free - you can be thorough and check every line without spending a dime.
