I keep getting my *** handed to me by my friend who drives a 86 RX-7 ...is this possible. Only mods I have are a greddy exhaust and header...came with the car. Don't know too much about these cars so someone help. Should I have gotten a second gen instead of a 93?????

Wait, so you're driving a third gen and he's beating you with a 2nd? Either's he's a much better driver than you, or something's terribly wrong with your car, because the 86 didn't even come turbo...

For real! A TII beating a TT. That's a sight to see, unless his car has been heavily modified, with a 20B, or a bigger turbo.

Still not enough info... Is the '89 a TII? What mods.? Explain "getting *** handed to you", as in type of driving (drag, corners, solo)...

Doesn't take much to mod a 2nd gen to beat a 3rd. But you can mod the 3rd gen too. OTOH 3rd gens tend to have a lot of problems with the turbo system. I'd read up heavily on your 3rd gen, b/c they really are problematic. Make it reliable, then replace any worn out suspension components (shocks, maybe bushings), then add a little power (again, only AFTER you learn how to do it reliably). The 3rd gen performs much better but if you don't have the money & time to do it right then you are better off going to a 2nd gen before your 3rd gen starts falling apart. Even with the 2nd gen (and any old car) you gotta be careful, but it's not nearly as much trouble as the 3rd gen and it's cheaper.

I beat stock FD's all the time. Not hard to do with a slightly modified TII FC.
