Porting Stock Wastegate

Just wondering how important it is to actually port out the stock wastegate.

I've got the full 3" SS exhaust, FCD, HKS intake. Will porting the wastegate do anything. I have noticed that if I pin it in 5th on the highway I'll touch 15psi every now and then, but the rest of the time I'm around 10-12psi.

Should I be worried?

I have a 3" intake and a 3" turbo back exhaust. I ported my wastegates to the limit of the flapper. My boost is absolutely rock solid to where i set it at. I have my controller set my .5bar and it won't budge in 5th gear. Definately port it and you're problems will be eliminated. However, if you have an s4 turbo you're kinda screwed, cause its wastegate is of an inferior design.

Yes you should. Since you list no fuel mods, I'm amazed your engine hasn't pinged itself to death already. The stock turbo makes crazy heat at that much boost, the stock intercooler is not big enough to cope with all that heat, and the stock fuel system can't provide enough fuel to keep AFR's safe for that sort of temps. The inevitible result is detonation. Porting the wastegate will allow boost to be kept at safer levels.

Or u can think about putting in a S5 manifold and turbo. The wastegate on that is already increased in size.
