Porting, advantages and disadvantages?

I searched and couldn't really find much on this but.... are there any other advantages to porting other than more hp... and how much hp should I expect to get on a S4 TII with a streetport done kevin landers style? What are the other disadvantages of SP other than shorter engine life and worse fuel milage?

Thanks everybody,

Tom

Porting is the equivalent to a cam profile change. You also affect timing as well. An average streetport should retain good low end and give power throughout the powerband.

Bigger ports like a bridgeport or peripheral port are usually for race engines. Much more power on top end but you will not see any power below 4000 rpm's. Not very streetable. Engine life is decreased a lot and you may want to look at getting new seals.

A streetport done well should not affect engine life too much. And yes, streetporting will worsen mileage depending how big of a port you go.
