ported wastegate...heatsoak...thoughts?

ok so i am working on porting the wastegate on my second turbo, and my injectors and rtek are here and going in the car SO...i was wondering if i can go with my old unported wastegate on my other turbo or if i should stay out of high boost until i get my other turbo all set?

Keep out of any serious boosting until you've got your turbo with the ported wastegate on.

you can do either but don't go crazy with the throttle until you have supporting mods if you don't install the ported wastegate or just wait if you think your foot will overrule your head.

no idea wtf heatsoak is in regards to..

i was told that anywhere above 12psi the TMIC will be pretty much useless...and with boost creep i have seen people hit spikes of about 15. so if i keep my boost below 10 or so should i be ok? short spurts of higher boost arent TOO bad are they?

ill just get to porting the wastegate and get it done...i already have the fuel pump in, now the injectors and rtek are going in...when the wastegate is done ill be set for a while. I HATE FUEL CUT!

Boost creep can go much higher than 15psi easily. Short spurts of high boost are enough to blow any engine not properly set up.

Just port the wg and be done with it. If you dont port it enough or plan to boost over stock you'll still want to get a FCD, or if the RTEK has a a built in FCD then you're ok if you have enough fuel (relatively speaking).

720cc Secondary Injectors
Rtek 1.7
3" RB Downpipe
3" Custom Exhaust (from there back)
3 Inch Intake with K&N Filter
Ported Wastegate (ITS BIG)

will i be ok to run 10 to 12 pounds of boost?

Don't make your wastegate hole to big....if the flapper doesnt completly cover it up...with a lil overlap....your going to have some lag issues.

Thumbs up

Don't forget a fpr. That pump will overpower your stock one.

FPR??

i will be welding a new flapper door onto the wastegate because there is no way the old one will be big enough for the size im making it...i got a hardened steel washer that will fit right on there nicely. and if you have opened the turbo before you have seen that the actual wastegate hole is up a little higher than the rest of the turbo so i was able to just grind it down flat, and i will weld the new flapper door right to the bottom of the old one...works great. i just have to finish grinding it all...my dremel bits are being eaten to pieces.

so what is an FPR???

fuel pressure regulator, he is talking about the walbro over powering it not keeping up the return side as much as the supply side is putting in.

It would be cheaper to make your setup and run your setup...then go to lowes and build a $10 fuel pressure tester to see if you need to add a FPR or not.
