Ported my 86 TB, my thoughts...

well today i finally got the energy to put on my bored/modded TB that i did a few months ago. I had to put on an RB EGR block off plate to replace the cheapy one i had on there so it was a perfect time

well i did my intake in gunmetal, that looks NICE but now to the results

i like it a lot, the only bad thing is the idle is a little whacked out and sometimes it will die, but its worth it where it helped most was low end, my driveway has some gravel in it, and before the ported tb if i dropped the clutch at 2000rpm it would spin then bog and die, now if i launch at 1000rpm slipping the clutch it will spin the tires and keep spinning all the way to redline, wow that was amazing to me, then the other low end test was up the hill to my house, nice and very steep, before the ported TB i could start at the bottom at 2700 rpm, 53mph at the bottom and it would go down to 2000 rpm, 40mph by the top, after the ported TB, 2700, 53mph only losing 200rpm to 2500, and 3mph to 50mph, took it again at 2500 to see the diff, lost 250rpm, went down from 2500 to 2250 all the way to the top, i was rather impressed with the low end gain.

high end felt better as far as it would pull, about 6800, because its still running so rich that it just wont go past 6500-6800, but every once in a while i can hit 7000 withouth a problem, and my favorite thing, i wasnt shooting flames with just my modded TB, but with this one i could finally shoot a flame

so all in all i give the mod an 8.5/10 and would recommend it if your looking for some extra low end power

this mod was done on the 86 base

explain how you ported the TB please. I didnt see any ports to grind because it all seemed like it was well matched and big enoughf.

if you look at the TB from the front, the 3 ports with butterflies, i ground out all 3 of them, smoothed everything out inside of it, ported the black spacer behind it and the holes in the dynamic chamber.

i got the splitter for the 3 bores on the TB so thin that it was flaking off, but i made sure i got it all so i didnt blow anything

wait , I dont see how this can help top end. I mean those runners in the TB help increase flow and are matched to the flange and Dynamic chamber.
Cutting the runners short will create turbulence when it comes to hit the dynamic chamber.

If you can just give us pics agent and explain mabey I can figure it out. Thnx
