Port or Fix Body Damage

I have a bit of a dilemma. I have a 1991 n/a, and I can't quite decide what to do. She has about $1500 in body damage (hood flew up at 90mph) abut it still looks alright. It will cost this much b/c the windshiled needs to be replaced, and the roof will as well. Should I get this fixed first, so she will look perfect again, or should I get her a new streetported engine. I realize the engine will run about $2k, but I can afford one, but not both. And no stupid "Buy a TII engine!" I want to keep her n/a. Mods on her, and soon coming are:Weapon R intake, TB Mod, No A/c, no air pump, wired open 5th and 6th ports (soon to be removed), ported intake, electric fan, S-AFC. Any ideas?

Fix it so it looks right, its also not too safe to drive with a damaged windshield.

Although Mods are fun.....thats a tough choice....but I have the same dilema......Garret Turbo @ discount or fix my heat so I can see when my damn windshield fogs up

Well the windshield is still legal. It has a 6 inch crack high on the passenger's side.

learn how to do the rebuild and port yourself, i am putting a street-port engine in mine and i think it will only end up at around 700$ total. of course i got lucky at the junkyard.

Looks like hail damage. The body shop said they will have to replace the actual roof panel, b/c thay can't get their tools in there to straighten it back up. Plus, a new windshield is gonna cost $550.

Sounds good. The guy at the body shop says he could try to find a used one for like $400 shipped. Thanks, Justin!!

make sure you shop around...
body shop wanted $1500 to fix the bigass dent in the side/back of my neighbours monte carlo
then she went to another one and he said "$10 and 5 minutes" and pulled out the dent with a plunger... you can't even tell where it was.

it costs about $50 to get a windshield done
BUT
that doesn't include the cost of glass

you should be able to get a junkyard windshield for $50 or less

Thumbs up

Well, cutting and reinstalling a roof is a major PITA... They can't use weld on "studs" and a slidehammer? Hell, Eastwood sells kits to do that to hobbyists, the shop should be able to do that without having to pound it out from the inside (keep in mind, I have no idea how bad the damage is, so I'm talking out of my *** here).

Parting out is viable too, IF you're willing to do the work yourself, and if you have a place to store the parts, etc. Otherwise it's a PITA, and probably not worth your time.

It really is not that bad, I just can't decide what is more important. My mom was gonna get it fixed for me, until I got a 1.5 GPA my first semester here in college...
