popping sounds form exhaust

popping sounds form exhaust

ok well when i drive some times i get a poping/ sputtering sound. Also when im idling n rev it to about 3kish it does it alot. What would cause that?

backfiring, you have an exhaust leak most likely

fairly normal for a rotary engine to spit anyways...check for leaks in the exhaust system and repair. the spits and backfires will be much more muted.

ok thanks. never checked for leaks b4. do i need any kinda tools? or how would i go about it?

put the car in the air either by jacking it up or using a lift (the preferred method) and inspect the exhaust for any holes or for sports where you see carbon the pipes between the gaskets. carbon will denote exhaust leaks

it just passed inspection so it cant b to bad, i could just patch it right?

put the car on a houst, or jack stands, w.e and start the car and feel your hand along the exhaust for any leaks (usually at joins in the exhaust)
